SOCAR Senior Vice President Khoshbakht Yusifzada has criticized the terms RWE carrying out these works and recommended completing them within a short period. “Otherwise there are other interested companies, which would like to take this field away from you and continue the works,” Yusifzada said at the Caspian Oil & Gas conference in Baku.
Martin Wellens, RWE General Director for New Projects in Europe and CIS, said the company that started its work in Azerbaijan since the end of 2009 and has been currently conducting repeated works on the Nakhchivan field to study seismic data and geological composition. “The works are planned to be completed in 2015,” he said.
SOCAR and RWE did not sign the production sharing agreement on exploration, development and sharing of production from the perspective field Nakhchivan, but it is planned to carry out works on the field.
The field is located 90 km south of the Absheron peninsular and 55 km away from the coast. The sea depth on the field is between 120 and 750 meters.
