More and more older people in Norway prefer to get both salary and pension and work more, than when they were young. From 2010 to 2013 the share of workforce in this age group has increased.
“I have never considered retiring at the age of 62. First of all, because of financial problems, because my pension is smaller and secondly, because a lot of interesting things are happening in the area I am working and I would like to be involved in these events,” said 66-yesr-old engineer Eric Webner.
The new data of the Norwegian Department of Labor and Social Security confirm that majority of elderly people prefer to work. According to the Department, from 2010 to 2013 in the age group between 62 and 64 the labor activity increased by 6-7%. In 2010 39% of people at the of 64 were employed, three years ago this index constituted 45.9%.
