The development of Kazakh content in oil and gas engineering is a mutually beneficial measure, according to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan, Asset Issekeshev.
“This measure will be mutually beneficial; jointly with Kazakh partners, foreign engineering companies will get full state support and oil and gas operators will obtain qualitative products,” Issekeshev said while speaking at a meeting on development of oil and gas engineering.
Creation of joint ventures in Kazakhstan can serve as a way of increasing Kazakh content in oil and gas projects, representatives of the country’s Engineering Union said at the meeting.
During the meeting the parties discussed the mechanisms of a new scheme of work with foreign engineering companies, as well as the legal framework for regulating the operation of joint enterprises in the new approach.
Over 40 national and foreign enterprises – suppliers of goods, work and services for oil and gas companies, in particular for Tengizchevroil – were invited to the meeting.
The policy of development of Kazakh content is a key issue in supporting the national business. Under the continuing program of forced industrial-innovative development, the subjects of monitoring of local content purchased goods, work and services worth 31.2 trillion tenge in four years. Some 56.5 percent of this sum or 17.6 trillion tenge ($ 1 – 182 tenge) fell to the share of domestic goods, work and services.
The share of domestic goods, work and services increased by 15 percent in 2013 compared to 2010 and accounted for 63.1 percent of the total volume of purchases by monitoring subjects.
