10 seismic stations to be installed on the Caspian Sea bottom

seys_dno The seismic stations will be installed on the Caspian Sea bottom to improve seismic studies in Azerbaijan. The seismic stations will be installed close to Bahar, Umid and Guneshli fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, reads web site of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
The employees of the US Kinemetrics company Matias Franke and Edelweiss Spasov are currently in Baku to carry out these works.
The guests have met with Dr. Geological and Mineral Studies Gurban Yetirmishli, General Director of the Seismic Centre of the Academy of Sciences. The representatives of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan’s (SOCAR) Xazarneftegas Institute, the Caspian Sea Oil Flat and Kinemetrics took part in the discussions.
Three seismic stations will be put into operation at the first stage and in the future their number is planned to be increased up to 10. They will help to study seismic activity in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
