It looks like State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has decided to reduce consumption of traditional automobile fuel, such as petrol and diesel, in another way.
Suleyman Gasymov, SOCAR Vice President for Economic Affairs, told journalists that a new joint venture (JV) has been established in the country to build a network of petrol stations in the country. The JV has been founded by Azerigas, SOCAR’s gas company, and Mayegas private company.
He said JV is at the stage of registration. “We already have an experience of liquefied gas sale at the petrol stations in Georgia. This is economically beneficial project, because big cities actively use LPG,” explained SOCAR Vice President.
Gasymov believes that if public transport uses cheaper fuel in the future, it will be beneficial both for the consumers and suppliers of fuel.
At present Azerbaijan has almost no automobile transport running on liquefied gas. Some LPG refueling stations have been opened at the petrol stations. But there the consumers usually fill gas cylinders, which is used for everyday purposes.
